History

Madball was founded in 1988 and featured most of Agnostic Front's members. Madball consisted of Agnostic Front's vocalist Roger Miret on bass, Vinnie Stigma on guitar, Will Shepler on drums, and then 12-year-old vocalist Freddy Cricien, Roger Miret's younger half-brother. Madball's first few performances consisted of previously unused Agnostic Front songs. Madball's first release was the Ball of Destruction EP in 1989. After years of playing regional shows in and around the New York area, a second guitarist, Matt Henderson, would join the band. By then, they recorded and released the EP Droppin' Many Suckers for Wreckage Records. One year later, Roger Miret left the band and was replaced by bass player Jorge "Hoya Roc" Guerra — a good friend of Freddy Cricien — who was looking for a new band as his band, Dmize, was breaking up. The new incarnation of the band was signed by Roadrunner Records in 1994 and released a pair of full-lengths; Set It Off in 1994 and Demonstrating My Style in 1996. Touring steadily, the band built a sizable fan base outside their hometown.[1]
1995 saw the band participating in the N.Y.H.C. Documentary. Extensive interviews were conducted with Freddy as well as a performance on July 29, 1995 at the now-defunct "Coney Island High". Freddy's brother, Roger, broke several vertebrae in his back at that show, requiring him to be in traction for the better part of a year.
Consisting of Cricien, Henderson, Guerra, and new drummer John Lafata, the band recorded Look My Way, which was released in early 1998. Hold It Down followed two years later. In 2000, Cricien was charged with attempted criminal possession of a weapon and was sentenced to six months in jail.[2][3] The band announced their dissolution in 2001 but decided to reform in late 2002 with a new line-up featuring Brian "Mitts" Daniels and Rigg Ross. They began touring and recording at the end of 2002. Since then, Madball has come out with: Best of Madball in 2003, N.Y.H.C. EP (EP) in 2004, Legacy in 2005, and Infiltrate The System in 2007. In 2009, Rigg Ross left to join Skarhead and was replaced by Ben Dussault.
Along with bands such as Agnostic Front, Vietnom, Bulldoze, Resistance, H2O and Boston/New York Hip-hop group Special Teamz (Slaine, Ed O.G., Jaysaun, DJ Jayceeoh), they comprise a part of New York's DMS Crew. Vocalist Cricien and bass player Hoya are also in the band Hazen Street, along with members of H2O and Cro-Mags.
In 2010, after the departure of the Ferret Records owners from the label, Madball followed them to their new and present label Good Fight Music. In February 2010 Madball signed a deal with Nuclear Blast for the European release of their new studio album, Empire, produced by Erik Rutan.[4] Jay Weinberg, son of E Street Band and Max Weinberg 7 drummer Max Weinberg, joined Madball for the album and for touring.[5]
Madball then dismissed Weinberg in September 2010, citing personality conflicts.[6] Weinberg said that he had already quit the group by that time, due to lifestyle issues.[7] Born From Pain drummer Igor Wouters replaced Weinberg for live performances.
On March 10, 2014, it was announced the band had begun recording its eighth studio album, which is due to release in the summer.[8]

History

Cerebral Bore formed in 2006 in Glasgow. In November that year, the band released a demo named The Dead Flesh Architect. The band's first trip outside of the United Kingdom took place in August 2007 and included New York City, United States, after having a song played on metal radio in N.Y. Following a U.K. tour, the band toured in the United States again, supporting Suffocation, Brutal Truth, and Devourment. Throughout 2009, Cerebral Bore toured in continental Europe, Scandinavia and Russia.[2]
In 2010, Cerebral Bore were joined by 18-year-old Dutch vocalist Simone "Som" Pluijmers. The debut album Maniacal Miscreation was recorded in mid-2010 and self-released in a limited edition of 500 copies. Touring in Europe and summer festivals continued in 2010.[2] In December 2010, The band signed to Earache Records.[3] The debut album was released in June 2011.[4] Cerebral Bore released music videos for "The Bald Cadaver" and "Maniacal Miscreation".[5]
Following the band's last concert of their headlining U.S. and Mexico tour in mid-2011, McGuire and Rutherford were falsely arrested and jailed by New York City police officers searching for a man who murdered four people in a Long Island pharmacy. Paul McGuire was also arrested for public intoxication. A week later, they were formally released without charge and flown back to Scotland.[6][7] Cerebral Bore played in the The Summer Slaughter Tour 2012 from 20 July through 25 August.[8]
In November 2012, Pluijmers had left the band. The band commented: "Som walked out on us less than 24 hours before the U.S. tour, and we were forced to either cancel or go ahead with it as an instrumental, if need be. We didn't want to let our U.S. fans down, so we went ahead with our buddy Shawn Whitaker on vocals for the tour."[9][10]

Musical style

Allmusic commented the band's debut album that "combines death metal brutality with a surprising dose of melody and technical skill".[4] Blabbermouth stated about Maniacal Miscreation: "It is brutal death metal (BDM) with personality and compositional diversity. (...) Budding BDM acts looking to avoid getting lost in the herd should take careful notes when listening to this one."[1]

Biohazard [Biografi]

Biohazard is an American heavy metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1987. They are acknowledged as one of the earliest bands to fuse hardcore punk and heavy metal with elements of hip hop. The earliest lineup consisted of bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld, guitarist Bobby Hambel, and drummer Anthony Meo. Guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei would join the band soon after, changing the band to a four-piece. Since January 2012, the lineup has consisted of Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel, Danny Schuler, and Scott Roberts.

Band history

Early years

The band formed in Brooklyn in 1987. Their first demo, released in 1988, caused a stir with journalists who felt that some of the band's lyrics displayed fascist and white supremacist views, overlooking the fact that both Seinfeld and Schuler were Jewish. The accusations of racism in their music were something strenuously denied by the band but in later interviews, Seinfeld and Graziadei explained that it had been a publicity stunt to win over the band Carnivore and their fans.[2] Additionally, Seinfeld has defended the lyrics of songs such as "Master Race" and "America" as metaphors meant to shock and get the listener's attention and maintains that the band was never racist.[3] The band has long since preached a message of tolerance and anti-racism. After the release of the first demo, Anthony Meo left the band and drummer Danny Schuler replaced him. A second demo tape followed in 1989.
Although Biohazard never truly considered themselves a hardcore band, Biohazard often found themselves sharing stages with bands associated with the New York hardcore scene, such as the Cro-Mags and Agnostic Front. They also shared stages with the New Jersey band, Mucky Pup and a friendship between the two bands developed.

Maze Records

In 1990, Biohazard signed a recording contract with Maze Records. The band's self-titled debut album was poorly promoted by the label and sold approximately 40,000 copies. The album's subject matter revolved around Brooklyn, gang-wars, drugs, and violence.
One year after the release of their debut album, Seinfeld and Graziadei contributed vocals to the song "Three Dead Gophers" from Mucky Pup's third album, Now. The album was released on Roadrunner Records, who would soon release Biohazard's second album.

Roadrunner Records

In 1992, Biohazard signed with Roadrunner Records and released Urban Discipline, which gave the band national and worldwide attention in both the heavy metal and hardcore communities. The video for the song "Punishment" became the most played video in the history of MTV's Headbanger's Ball, and the album sold over one million copies. The band also began opening for larger acts such as House of Pain, Sick Of It All, Fishbone, and Kyuss.
In 1993, the hardcore rap group Onyx recorded an alternate "Bionyx" version of their hit single "Slam" with Biohazard as their backup band. This led to a collaboration on the title track of the Judgment Night soundtrack. The soundtrack would go on to sell over two million copies in the United States.

Warner Bros.

Months later, the band left Roadrunner Records and signed with Warner Bros. Records Inc. who released their third studio LP, State of the World Address. The album was produced by Ed Stasium in Los Angeles and contained the single "How It Is" featuring Sen Dog of Cypress Hill, for which a video was also shot. During their 1994 tour, the band made an appearance on the second stage at the Monsters of Rock festival held at Castle Donington. State of the World Address went on to sell over one million copies, and Rolling Stone magazine selected the Biohazard logo as the best logo of the year. This was the last Biohazard album with Bobby Hambel, who left due to differences with the rest of the band. Hambel spent time in White Devil, also featuring members of the Cro-Mags, before seemingly leaving the music business entirely. In late 1995, the band, along with Therapy? and Gunshot, contributed remixes to the Pitchshifter album The Remix War.
The band recorded their fourth studio album, Mata Leao, as a three piece in 1996. It was produced with the help of Dave Jerden. For the 1996-97 Mata Leao Tour, the band hired former Helmet guitarist Rob Echeverria. The band also played on the Ozzfest mainstage alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Danzig, Fear Factory, and Sepultura.
While touring Europe in support of the Mata Leao album, the band recorded their Hamburg, Germany, show for their first live album, No Holds Barred (Live in Europe), which was released in 1997 through their former label, Roadrunner Records.
In 1998, Seinfeld began his acting career playing Jaz Hoyt on HBO's award winning series Oz. The character was introduced in the second season and appeared throughout the series' sixth and final season.

Mercury Records

The band signed to Mercury Records and released their fifth studio album, New World Disorder, in 1999, once again with Ed Stasium as a producer. The relationship with Mercury Records soured quickly as the band felt betrayed and misunderstood by the label. They severed their ties with the label amidst the merger of Mercury Records, Island Records, Def Jam Records, and Polygram into the Universal Music Group.
In 2000, the band continued to tour Europe and Japan, without the support of a record label or management. In 2001, the band released a compilation album titled Tales From The B-Side. The album consisted of various B-sides and remixes from various eras in the band's recording history. The album was released by the Phantom Sound & Vision label. After the release of Tales From The B-Side, Rob Echeverria resigned from the band in order to get married. Leo Curley, of Outline and All Means Necessary, was hired as his replacement.

SPV/Sanctuary Records

In the same year, Biohazard signed two new record deals with SPV/Steamhammer in Europe and Sanctuary Records for the remainder of the world. Despite the new record deals, the band took some personal time in order to work on other projects.
Graziadei briefly formed a trip hop project with Jenifer Bair of the Ohio band Hilo. After writing and recording approximately twenty songs for the project named Blu, Bair relocated to Los Angeles, California to continue an art career and the project dissolved. Graziadei also began work on a book, Tales From The Hardside. Schuler used his downtime to perform with New York band Among Thieves as a replacement drummer for the departing Will Shepler.
Graziadei and Schuler also collaborated in transforming the band's rehearsal Brooklyn studio into a digital recording studio, known as Rat Piss Studios and soon after changed the name to Underground Sound Studios. Re-investing into the band, Graziadei and Schuler honed their engineering and productions skills while recording and producing local acts and new Biohazard demos. The band then undertook the process of writing, recording, and producing their own music.
Their studio work led to the band's sixth studio album, Uncivilization, released in September 2001. The album featured several guest appearances by members of bands such as Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Pantera, Slipknot, Sepultura, Cypress Hill, Skarhead, and Type O Negative. Shortly after the release of Uncivilization, Leo Curley left the band to focus on writing his own music. He was replaced by former Nucleus member Carmine Vincent, who had previously toured with Biohazard as part of their road crew.
In 2002, Seinfeld became engaged to porn star Tera Patrick. Patrick had never heard of Seinfeld prior to seeing one of his nude scenes on Oz. After making several phone calls, Patrick was able to contact Seinfeld, who had never heard of her either, and the two began dating.
The band had to cancel scheduled European festival dates when Carmine Vincent underwent major surgery. The band did manage to find a temporary guitarist, Scott Roberts, formerly of the Cro-Mags and the Spudmonsters, in time to join the Eastpak Resistance Tour with Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Discipline, Death Threat, Born From Pain and All Boro Kings.
Biohazard completed their seventh studio album in seventeen days; Kill Or Be Killed was released in 2003. While touring North America with Kittie, Brand New Sin and Eighteen Visions, Biohazard announced that Roberts would remain as their permanent lead guitarist. The tour was curtailed when it was announced that Seinfeld had fallen ill.
With more downtime due to Seinfeld's illness, Graziadei and Schuler collaborated to mix Life of Agony's live comeback album, River Runs Again: Live 2003. Once Seinfeld was healthy again, the band toured Japan and North America, headlining over bands such as Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Throwdown, and Full Blown Chaos.
Once home, Seinfeld began recording and circulating demos for his own trip hop project named Triplesicks. For a brief time, Graziadei and his wife moved to Brazil where their daughter was born. While there, Graziadei struck up a friendship with drummer Fernandao Schafer. After jamming together in the studio, Schafer formed the band Ink which Graziadei would eventually produce and later join. It wasn't long before Ink was renamed Endrah and an EP titled DEMONstration was released. Once Graziadei returned to New York, the logistical problems of traveling back and forth caused Graziadei to quit Endrah.
In early 2004, Graziadei teamed up with gabber DJ Rob Gee to help write and produce his music. When a few albums were completed, Graziadei joined Schuler, Roberts, DJ Starscream (aka Sid Wilson of Slipknot), Jeff Anthony, and Keith Rooney, both of Gutwrench, to form Ampt. The band combined gabber music with hardcore and heavy metal. After writing several songs and putting together a live band, Graziadei and Schuler left the project in order to continue with Biohazard. Ampt has gone through several additional lineup changes since.
Also in 2004, Seinfeld, now residing in Los Angeles, California, married his fiancée of two years, Tera Patrick.
By the end of 2004, the band had begun recording its eighth studio album, Means To An End. The completed album was lost in a studio disaster, forcing the band to completely re-record the album, which was finally released in August 2005.

Temporarily disbanded

In the meantime, Graziadei had formed another new band with former members of Kitte and The Groovenics. Originally named Rodek, the band eventually changed their name to Suicide City. In October 2004, Graziadei announced that Means To An End had been the final Biohazard album and that he would continue playing with Suicide City as his main focus. One month later, on the Biohazard website, it was announced that there would in fact be a 2005 Biohazard tour.
On December 15, Seinfeld and Graziadei participated in the Roadrunner United conglomerate event at the Nokia Theater in New York for an all-star event. The show opened with Biohazard's "Punishment," performed by Seinfeld, Graziadei, Sepultura's Andreas Kisser, former Fear Factory member Dino Cazares, and Slipknot's Joey Jordison.
In 2005, Seinfeld and Patrick formed The Tera Patrick Agency with the goal of representing talent in both the adult and mainstream entertainment business. That same year, Suicide City released their first EP, Not My Year, and continued to tour as an opening act for acts such as Danzig, Taking Back Sunday, Mindless Self Indulgence, Otep and Gwar. The band's full-length album, Frenzy, followed in 2009.
In January 2006, Danny Schuler announced his resignation from Biohazard and the formation of Bloodclot with singer Jon Joseph of the Cro-Mags, guitarist Scott Roberts and bassist Craig Setari of Sick of it All. Roberts later announced that he would also be leaving the band to focus on Bloodclot with Schuler. That same month, Graziadei announced that Biohazard would not go on a farewell tour after all.[4]
Graziadei and Schuler relocated their recording studio to South Amboy, New Jersey and renamed it Underground Sound Studios. The studio was renovated to include a live room with 20-foot (6.1 m) ceilings and 4,000 square feet (370 m2) of studio space. After Schuler's departure from the studio business, Graziadei relocated the studio to Los Angeles and changed the name to Firewater Studios.
In February 2006, Seinfeld participated in the filming of SuperGroup, a VH-1 reality television series also starring Ted Nugent, Scott Ian, Sebastian Bach and Jason Bonham as a supergroup named Damnocracy. The show debuted on May 21, 2006.
In March 2007, Evan Seinfeld debuted his new band, The Spyderz, as an opening act for a Buckcherry performance. The band was originally named White Line Fever, until it was discovered that a UK band already owned the name. The Spyderz also featured guitarist John Monte, formerly of Ministry and M.O.D.. In October 2008, Seinfeld also briefly joined Tattooed Millionaires as a bassist and co-vocalist. Seinfeld and Tera Patrick separated in 2009 and divorced in 2010.

Reunion and departure of Seinfeld

In January 2008, the classic lineup of Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Danny Schuler and Bobby Hambel made the announcement that rehearsals had begun for a 2008 summer tour to commemorate the band's 20th anniversary.[5] They toured Australia and New Zealand in April with Chimaira, Throwdown, Bloodsimple and headliners Korn to celebrate their newly declared reunion.[6] The band also took part in Persistence Tour 2009, and announced at one of their shows that they were working on a new record.[7] It was also noted that the album would be dedicated to Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele who died in April 2010.[8] Biohazard brought in producer Toby Wright to work on the album and after several months at Graziadei's Firewater Studios in Los Angeles, the band completed their recording sessions.
In June 2011, Biohazard announced that they had amicably parted ways with Evan Seinfeld.[9] Scott Roberts returned to replace Seinfeld for two UK dates but no decision regarding a permanent replacement was made.[10] In August 2011, the band announced that they were searching for a full-time singer to replace Seinfeld and opened auditions to the public.[11] In September 2011, three months after his departure from Biohazard, Seinfeld joined Los Angeles-based heavy metal band, Attika 7, which also featured Tony Campos, formerly of Soulfly and Static-X, and Rusty Coones.[12] Attika 7 began recording their debut album for THC Music/Rocket Science in February 2012.[13] After several lineup changes, including the departure of Campos, the band's debut album, Blood of my Enemies, was released in 2013. Seinfeld also continues to work in adult entertainment as Spyder Jonez, most notably through his production company, Iron Cross Entertainment and Teravison, the production company he co-owns with his former wife, Tera Patrick, as well as his own "Rockstar Pornstar" website.[14]
In January 2012, the band decided that Scott Roberts would remain with the band as a permanent member. The new album, Reborn in Defiance, was released worldwide, with the exception of North America, on January 20, 2012 through the Nuclear Blast label. The band originally planned to offer a digital edition of the album as a free download for American fans on the same date but these plans were canceled at the last moment.[15] A United States label partner and release date has yet to be announced.[16]
In support of the album, Biohazard embarked on a short co-headlining tour of Europe with Suicidal Tendencies in the latter half of January 2012.[17] The band arrived in Belgium to begin the tour on January 20 where abruptly, Scott Roberts was rushed to the hospital. After going through several tests and receiving no answers concerning his ailment, Roberts checked himself out of the hospital in time to perform with the band. After their set, Roberts was rushed back to the hospital.[18] Roberts was released from the hospital in time to continue on with the tour at the next stop in Oberhausen, Germany on January 21.[19] On January 22, Schuler left the tour to in order to return home and be with his wife for the birth of their baby. Danny Lamagna of Sworn Enemy and Suicide City stepped in to replace Schuler until he was able to return.[20] The band continued to perform live in Europe and North America throughout 2013 and into 2014.
In July 2015, Schuler indicated that the band is actively working on a new album to be released "soon".[21]

History

Formation, lineup changes, and Allegiance (2003–2007)

As Blood Runs Black was created in 2003 in Los Angeles from an existing band known as Broken Stems by co-vocalists Louie Ruvalcaba and Enrique "Ricky" Martin, bassist Richard Reyes, and guitarists Bijon Roybal and Kyle Hasenstaab. Brian "Animal" Matute, the drummer of Broken Stems, left and was replaced by Hector "Lech" De Santiago. After some practices and writing, the band decided to name itself As Blood Runs Black and played its first show at Toberman in San Pedro, Los Angeles, performing 3 original songs and 3 cover songs. Vocalists Louie Ruvalcaba and Ricky Martin wrote lyrics for their first track, "Before the Break of Dawn", while bassist Richard Reyes wrote the lyrics to "Hester Prynne" and "In Dying Days", both of which would be featured on their debut album. Two demos were released in 2004 and 2005, both containing "Hester Prynne" and "In Dying Days".
In 2005, the band was preparing to enter the studio to record their debut album. However, Ruvalcaba, Martin, Reyes, Roybal and Hasenstaab all departed from the band, leaving De Santiago as the only member. De Santiago recruited Nick Stewart as the new bassist, Ernie Flores as the new guitarist, and, in place of the two former vocalists, the band brought in Chris Blair as the sole vocalist. As Blood Runs Black got back to the studio and recorded their debut album, Allegiance, which was released on June 6, 2006. Shortly after the release of the album, Sal Mendez was recruited as the band's second guitarist. For the next two years, As Blood Runs Black toured in support of Allegiance, including as part of the 2007 Summer Slaughter tour.

Departure of Blair and Mendez, and temporary vocalists (2008–2009)

In late 2008, Blair and Mendez left the band before the Australian tour in 2008. Sean Murphy from hardcore band Endwell filled in on vocals for the rest of the tour and the remainder of the year.
In 2009, As Blood Runs Black brought in Danny Leal as a temporary vocalist, as Leal was vocalist for the up-and-coming deathcore band Upon a Burning Body. Leal would tour with As Blood Runs Black for the first half of the year before leaving to return to Upon A Burning Body. Jonny McBee, vocalist of deathcore act The Browning, was brought in as a temporary vocalist, and would tour for the remainder of the year.

Lineup instability and Instinct (2010–2012)

At the beginning of 2010, As Blood Runs Black revealed Ken Maxwell as their permanent new vocalist. Maxwell was previously the vocalist for deathcore act Behead the Tyrant. Soon after guitarist Flores departed from the band, Greg Kirkpatrick and Dan Sugarman were recruited as the new guitarists. The band soon after revealed a new song entitled "Resist". This is the first song recorded with Maxwell. During a tour in Anaheim, Sonik Garcia, vocalist from deathcore act Fallen Figure, joined As Blood Runs Black on the stage to perform "In Dying Days" with Maxwell. It was unsure if Garcia was joining As Blood Runs Black as a co-vocalist, but it was revealed to just be a friendly guest appearance.
However, several months later, Maxwell departed due to a fight with one of the other members of the band, and As Blood Runs Black soon turned to Sonik Garcia to be the new vocalist. The song "Resist" was re-recorded with Garcia on vocals. The band then entered the studio to record their second album, Instinct, which was released on March 15, 2011. As Blood Runs Black toured heavily for the next two years in support of the album.
Near the end of 2012, on a tour date in San Diego, former vocalist Chris Blair made a guest appearance for the original song "In Dying Days". This would be the last tour for vocalist Sonik Garcia, as he would leave the band due to a family emergency. After his departure, Garcia recommended As Blood Runs Black to recruit Christopher Bartholomew, which would eventually be the sixth vocalist in the band's existence.

Ground Zero and break-up (2013–present)

As Blood Runs Black spent most of 2013 touring, but also began recording their third album, Ground Zero. This would be their first album without Mediaskare Records, as they recently left the label due to a conflict. They announced they would be releasing Ground Zero with support of crowd funding by IndieGoGo. In early 2014, a song entitled "Vision" was released, the first recording with Bartholomew on vocals. Later on the year, rumors began to surface that the band was breaking up.
On August 12, 2014, drummer Hector "Lech" De Santiago released a statement which alluded to the band breaking up, saying:
Despite the announcement, the band released a single from the upcoming album, titled "Insomniac", on August 18, 2014,[7] and announced a final North America farewell tour to support the album beginning in fall 2014.[8] The band intends to part ways upon conclusion of the tour. The album itself was released on October 27, 2014.

History

Formation, debut EP and The Cleansing (2002–2008)

Suicide Silence were founded in 2002 in Riverside, California, and were at that time, a side project of many of the members of other groups. The band performed their first show at a local area within Riverside and at that time, the line-up consisted of the members Chris Garza and Rick Ash as guitarists, Mike Bodkins as bassist, Josh Goddard as drummer and two vocalists, Mitch Lucker and Tanner Womack. Shortly after their first performance, Womack was fired from the band and they released their first demo the following year.[2] They released their second demo in 2004. By the proceeding year, the members took the band more seriously and were no-longer deemed as a side project, they would then advance to record their third and final demo in 2006 after the band recorded and released their first public studio quality material entitled, Suicide Silence EP which was released through Third Degree Records and later re-released in the UK through the English label In at the Deep End Records.[3] Drummer, Josh Goddard departed from the band in 2006 and was replaced by Alex Lopez who was the former guitarist for the bands Blacheart Eulogy and The Funeral Pyre before his joining.
Two years later, the band signed to Century Media and released their debut full-length album The Cleansing.[4] The album was mixed by Tue Madsen, produced by John Travis and features artwork by Dave McKean.[5][6] It debuted at number 94 on the Billboard 200,[7] selling 7,250 copies in its first week of release.[8] The sales of that week ending combined with its later sales made The Cleansing one of the best-selling debut albums in Century Media history.[9] With the success of their debut album, Suicide Silence were included to take part in Mayhem Festival that took place during the summer of 2008. Afterward, they toured Europe with Parkway Drive and Bury Your Dead, following a successful US tour with the same bands. Suicide Silence then followed along with a tour in Australia with Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember and The Acacia Strain in mid-2008 during the time when they were included to perform at Sweat Fest. At this point Suicide Silence were beginning to gain a wide range of fans throughout the world. While returning home from the continuous tours, the band covered the song "Engine No. 9" by Deftones and released the cover on their limited edition "Green Monster" single as well as iTunes all during the same year.[10]

No Time to Bleed (2008–2010)

Shortly before embarking on Mayhem Festival in summer 2008, Suicide Silence's MySpace profile title read "Suicide Silence (Is writing a new album)", which was the first indication of ensuring the upcoming of their second album. On June 26, 2008, Mitch Lucker appeared on the Headbangers Ball blog podcast. In the interview, Lucker stated that the album would be recorded through tracks as opposed of being recorded live, such as The Cleansing. He also said the new album would "blow The Cleansing away." Machine was chosen by the band to be the producer of the album. The title for it was revealed as being No Time to Bleed.[11]
Suicide Silence began recording No Time to Bleed in February with production by acclaimed producer Machine and engineering by Will Putney.[12] During Music as a Weapon as well as the band's Cleansing the Nation tour, they began to perform the songs "No Time to Bleed", "Your Creations", "Lifted" and "Wake Up" months before the release of the album. In April they received the Revolver Golden God award for "Most Innovative Band" and performed at the awards show.[13] Suicide Silence were included on 2009's Pedal to the Metal tour, along with the bands Mudvayne, Static-X, Bury Your Dead, Dope and Black Label Society.[14] During the same year, the group was awarded the Golden God award for "Best New Talent".[15]
Suicide Silence released No Time to Bleed on June 30, 2009 through Century Media. The album peaked at No. 32 on the Billboard 200,[16] selling 14,000 copies in the first week in the United States alone.[17] The opening track from the album, "Wake Up" was released as a digital download-only EP which includes the original song, a live performance of it and a remix handled by Shawn Crahan of Slipknot. A music video was produced for the song as well and made its debut premiere on Fearnet.[18][19] "Genocide" was released as the album's second single. Its music video was created in collaboration with Bloody Disgusting and a remix for the song was featured in the Saw VI soundtrack.[20][21] Suicide Silence announced production for a music video for the song, "Disengage", of which was released as a single on April 20, 2010.[22] The video for it was released during June 2010.[23] The band played throughout the entire Warped Tour 2010[24] on the Altec Lansing Stage.[25] In October, the group began their first headlining tour in two years[26] with support from MyChildren MyBride, Molotov Solution, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and Conducting from the Grave.[27]

The Black Crown and Lucker's death (2011–2012)

By 2011, Suicide Silence began preparing their third full-length album in Big Bear, California with Steve Evetts as the selected producer.[28][29] During March, the group performed at California's Metalfest, and a week later, Nevada's Extreme Thing festivals,[30] at both of these performances, the band confirmed that the new album would be titled The Black Crown.[31] Working titles for the album were "Cancerous Skies", "Human Violence" and "Fuck Everything".[32] When asked by Kerrang!, Lucker revealed that the album's lyrical themes would feature more of the personal topics that No Time to Bleed had in-concept rather than the anti-religious theme that The Cleansing held. Lucker explained "I still have the same beliefs and same views, but I'm more open to everything. At this point in my life, I don't see the good in making people hate you for something you say. This record [The Black Crown] is for everybody."[31] The song "Human Violence" premiered on radio station Liquid Metal on May 13, 2011.[33] The Black Crown was released on July 12, 2011 and sold over 14,400 copies in the United States alone during its first week of release, which had it debuting at position number 28 on the Billboard 200 chart.[8][34]
The group was included on the line-up for the fourth annual Mayhem Festival, again playing on the Extreme Stage with other metal acts including Machine Head, Trivium and All Shall Perish during July and August 2011.[35]

The band's original vocalist, Mitch Lucker, died in late 2012.
On November 1, 2012, it was announced by Orange County Coroners Office that Mitch Lucker had died from injuries incurred from a motorcycle accident. The coroner's office said Lucker was "pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m. Thursday at UCI Medical Center in Orange County". One report stated that Lucker crashed his motorcycle shortly after 21:00 on October 31.[36][37][38]
An official status was also posted on the band's Facebook page. It said:
"There's no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts. R.I.P. Mitchell Adam Lucker - We Love You Brother."
On December 21, 2012, a memorial show to benefit Kenadee Lucker's future education costs was held at the Fox Theater in Pomona, California. The show was titled "Ending is the Beginning: Mitch Lucker Memorial Show"[39] as a reference to both an early song from the band (See Suicide Silence EP) as well as acknowledging the transitional period for the band following Mitch's death. The show itself featured the members of Suicide Silence performing songs from each of the bands releases with a different guest vocalist performing with the band for each song.[40] In addition to the memorial show, the band started the Kenadee Lucker Education Fund and continues to promote donations towards Mitch's daughter.[41][42]

Hernan "Eddie" Hermida became the band's new vocalist in late 2013.

Subsequently, on October 30, the band announced they would start recording their next album the following week. This will be the first Suicide Silence record without founding vocalist Mitch Lucker. On November 5, they announced the new album would be released early Summer 2014.
On December 16, 2013, the band released a trailer for Ending Is the Beginning: The Mitch Lucker Memorial Show, which was released on CD/DVD/Blu-ray on February 18, 2014. In an interview with Soundwave TV on February 22, 2014, vocalist Eddie Hermida stated that one of the songs on the new album would contain some of Mitch Lucker's final lyrics.[44]
On April 23, 2014, the band announced the title of their upcoming fourth album to be You Can't Stop Me, which is taken from the title of a song that Mitch Lucker had written before his death. The album was released on July 14 in the U.K. and July 15 in the U.S.[45] On May 2, Suicide Silence announced that a song off their new album, You Can't Stop Me, "Cease to Exist" would be released as the first single off the album. The song was released on May 6, 2014, and performed live for the first time at Rock am Ring 2014 on June 6, 2014.[citation needed]

Styles and influences

Suicide Silence performs deathcore,[46][47][48] which is a fusion between death metal and metalcore.[49] They are influenced by black metal, grindcore, mathcore and groove metal.[50][51][52][53][54] The mathcore elements can be seen in the varied speed changes and complex time signatures in the band's music. The band's vocalist fluctuates between death growls used in death metal and high-pitched screamed vocals used in black metal.[54] The drumming is very fast-paced, grindcore influenced, and employs a liberal use of double bass drumming and blast beats.[55]
The band members themselves have stated that they are influenced from groups such as Meshuggah, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Morbid Angel, Necrophagist, Napalm Death, Nile, Slipknot, Darkest Hour,[56] Deftones, Korn, Death, and Possessed.[57][58][59]
During an interview, lead guitarist Mark Heylmun stated his biggest influences are Dimebag Darrell and George Lynch.[56]
